Disconnected: Disappearing Landscapes
Some years ago I took a picture of a pay phone with my iPhone. The light was just right. The pay phone was just right. Exactly as it was supposed to be. When I looked at the picture on the screen of the phone the irony struck me to my core. I had just taken a picture of the thing, the pay phone, with the thing, the cellphone, that killed the thing. I’ve been taking pictures of them ever since- all over the country and world. Some of these phones I’ve been shooting for years and the changes they’ve gone through has been amazing. From functioning, to vandalized and decayed, to Disconnected, to gone.
